Beach House Restaurant Wedding in Victoria - Tamara and Mike

Tamara and Mike's Sunny Outdoor Beach House Wedding on Vancouver Island // Victoria Wedding Photographers

When couples plan their summer wedding on a beach, they are usually dreaming of sunny days, warmth, gorgeous blue waters that stretch on forever, and being surrounded by friends and family who are excited to have a good time. That’s exactly what Tamara and Mike got on their big day. We all know how gorgeous Victoria can be in the summer time, and that's exactly the kind of wedding day they had. The sun couldn’t have been brighter, the weather couldn’t have been warmer, and the ocean in front of The Beach House Restaurant where they married, could not have been more breathtaking!

Surrounded by their eager and excited wedding party, Mike and Tamara had their suspenseful and emotional first look on the rooftop of their hotel overlooking Victoria.  After that, we journeyed to a cliffside park for some gravity defying pre-ceremony photos on the rocky edges of the shore – special kudos to Tamara who gracefully maneuvered the cliffs in 6 inch heels!

Tamara and Mike’s beachfront lawn ceremony was followed immediately by a delicious summer dinner in The Beach House Restaurant just north of Victoria, hilarious speeches from friends, heartfelt stories from family, and of course, outrageous partying.

Church and State Winery Wedding in Victoria - Lindsay and Darren

Lindsay and Darren's First Look at Brentwood Bay Resort, Photos at Woodwynn Farms, and Wedding at Church and State Winery // Victoria Wedding Photographers

When we met up with Lindsay and Darren for their engagement shoot this spring, we could tell their big day was going to be a special one.  Having brought along a few props to use during their engagement photos, it was clear that Lindsay and Darren not only had an eye for detail, but a knack for making details very personal.  We could NOT wait for their wedding at Church and State in Brentwood Bay.   It has to be one of the very best wedding venues in Victoria, probably one of the best wedding venues on Vancouver Island!

When their big day arrived, that part of Lindsay and Darren’s personalities shone from start to finish; with how they prepared their day, their use of personal items, thoughtful tokens from and for their loved ones, personal typer-writer note cards, their unique vows, their silliness, and how they hosted their friends and family.  They truly did everything they could to make sure their guests felt comfortable, welcome, and excited.  That’s what we think weddings are all about.

The morning of their wedding day, every shade of blue painted the horizon.  The sun peeked through the clouds, but the rain was threatening.  Little did anyone know, a record-breaking windstorm was headed our direction, and the power would go out at their ceremony and reception site at Church and State Winery.  By the time Lindsay and Darren were ready for their first look, the rain had started and the wind picked up.  The moment Darren turned around to see Lindsay, and both their faces lit up, everyone forgot about the weather.

That’s the beautiful thing about love, and about weddings.  It’s natural to fret a little about the skies beforehand, but when the day arrives, the weather pales in comparison to the moments you’ll share with the company you have.   Lindsay and Darren’s wedding was a perfect example of that.  You couldn’t hear the wind over laughter.  You couldn’t feel the rain amongst the warmth of friends. You didn’t notice the loss of electricity when you were surrounded by intimate candle light. Their day was truly spectacular!

Congratulations Lindsay and Darren. Thank you for having us there to photograph your day. “We’re so glad you chose us.” ;)

Lindsay and Darren incorporated so many great, hard working local Vancouver wedding vendors, and Vancouver Island wedding vendors in their day, and we’d love to give a shout out to a bunch of them featured!

Outdoor Kitimat Wedding at the Rod and Gun Club - Darlene and Rob

Rob and Darlene's Kitimat Wedding and Second Day Photo Shoot // BC Wedding Photographers

If you saw our last blog post, you know we went up to Kitimat for a couple weddings, and to visit Matt’s hometown.  Darlene and Rob were first on our list.  We love shooting weddings where we get to run into familiar faces, and catch up with the couples of weddings we’ve photographed in the past.  Rob is the brother of Mike, of Mike and Lindsey, who got married in Sooke 3 years ago.  He’s also the cousin of Philip, of Philip and Crystal, who had their wedding in Whistler last year.  I guess you can say that we love ‘Keeping Up with the Campbells!’  If Darlene and Rob’s wedding was going to be anything like their kins’, we were in for a treat.  They did not disappoint!

Darlene and Rob hosted their intimate, outdoor ceremony along the Kitimat River, at the Kitimat Rod and Gun Club.  The early-evening light, and the views of the mountains and riverbed really set the mood.  We love when couples involve their children in their ceremonies, and we have to say they their son Riley was an incredibly dapper, dinosaur-clad ring bearer, and little brother Casey made a wonderful supervisor-of-the-ceremony-events.

After the ceremony, it was straight into dinner and dancing with their guests – partying late into the night and creating some pretty raucous memories in our PebbleBooth.

We got to do a fun and intimate second-day shoot with Darlene and Rob.  We still can not get over how gorgeous the two of them looked that day – two lovers, on a mountain, amongst the trees, overlooking the ocean at sunset.

Outdoor Rainforest Wedding in Kitimat BC - Kaylee and Travis

Kaylee and Travis Get Married in The Mossy Forest in Kitimat at Minette Bay // Victoria Wedding Photographers

We took a trip up to Kitimat, BC recently to visit Matt’s hometown roots, and to shoot two very beautiful weddings.  Kaylee and Travis were one of our couples that week, and their story is one we truly love.   Kaylee spied Travis for the first time while he was playing a gig with his band.  She told us that the minute she saw Travis’ cape dangling from his shoulders while he was up on stage, she knew he was someone she wanted to know.  It wasn’t a surprise that Travis’ outgoing personality would draw Kaylee’s attention, since she has been a long time lover of cosplay, and has an astonishing gift for creating costumes.  It shouldn’t come as a surprise then, that Travis proposed to Kaylee, in costume, at an Anime Revolution convention.

On the day of the wedding, with the threatening rain, Kaylee and Travis were calm and casual.  The rain didn’t bother them, and they intended to do their outdoor ceremony regardless.  The rain worked out for the better, in our opinion at least.  Mossy forests glow green when they are dampened, distance mountains turn blue, and hovering mist creates a dramatic backdrop, perfectly accentuating Kaylee’s purple hair and white gown, and Travis by her side.

Following some intimate photos in the woods, and by the water, Kaylee and Travis met up with their guests for what would be a hilarious, touching, and memorable reception.  It was evident that their guests and wedding party put a lot of effort into creating speeches, and a slideshow that perfectly represented Kaylee and Travis’ life together.  Even their anime-proposal was printed on their guitar pick favours, a perfect blend of two aspects of their lives.

Congratulations, Kaylee and Travis! We hope you enjoy the photos!

Jericho Beach Engagement - Hayley and Kyle

Hayley and Kyle Get Silly During Their Sunset Jericho Beach Engagement // Vancouver Island Wedding Photographers

We met with Hayley and Kyle at Jericho Beach to do their sunny and fun engagement photos, because it’s one of Hayley’s absolute favourite places in Vancouver.  Being from the Toronto area, where their wedding will take place, Hayley and Kyle wanted their engagement photos to reflect their new life in Vancouver.   We started off the shoot by meeting their pooch, Hunter, swinging on swings, and jumping on logs!   At sunset, we headed over to the waterside for a gorgeous view of downtown Vancouver, where Hayley and Kyle donned their Vancouver Canucks hats with glee – a playful nod to their Toronto-loving kin!

Stormy Steveston Engagement - Char and Josh

Charlene and Josh Outrun a Storm in Steveston During Their Engagement Photos // Victoria Wedding Photographers

Last week was our first time meeting Charlene and Josh in person.  We got to know a little about their story over a Skype chat a few months ago, and learned about their elaborate and fun proposal.  A day long proposal to be precise.  The day he popped the question, Josh sent Charlene on an Amazing Race style scavenger hunt.  With a friend in tow to document the adventure, Charlene was sent from place to place, from clue to clue, to end up at the Capilano Suspension bridge where Josh was waiting… to trick her with a bracelet.  Later that evening Charlene and Josh met up with family and friends at their church, where Josh proposed (for real) in front of all of them!  We loved the story.  An adventure proposal?!  How amazing is that!  Charlene and Josh sounded like a couple we wanted to get in front of our lenses.

Since Charlene is currently doing her residency in Minnesota, we decided it would be a great opportunity to do their engagement photos when she came back in the summer for a week.  We had a date picked to meet up in Steveston for a candid picnic themed engagement session.  The day we picked was rainy and dark.  All.  Day.  Long.  So, we picked our back-up date and that was it, we would do it rain or shine!  The day rolled around and it seemed we were going to have a little bit of both: rain and shine.  Like troopers, Charlene and Josh braved it all.  When we got to Steveston the sky along the horizon looked promising, but the large black, wet looking cloud above us was threatening.  We walked and talked with Charlene and Josh (and some curious swans), trying to keep ten steps in front of the rain, quite literally.  The looming rain was never able to keep pace, but created such a unique setting for Charlene and Josh’s outing in Steveston.  We’re always so grateful that we get to shoot so many couples who are willing to roll with the punches, and embrace the unknown!  Afterall, that is one thing marriage is all about.

Thanks Charlene and Josh for being so adventurous, we think it totally paid off!  We can’t wait to see what happens on your wedding day, and be there to capture what will surely be an adventure.

Wedding at Shaughnessy Restaurant at Van Dusen Gardens - Esther and Jimmy

Esther and Jimmy get Married at Shaughnessy Restaurant at Van Dusen Gardens in Vancouver // Victoria Wedding Photographers

We met up with Esther and Jimmy around this time last year, to discuss their wedding.  They told us about their laid back lifestyle, how they met, and some of the unique details of their wedding.

We were excited from the start: not only are Esther and Jimmy easy-going and easy to talk to, they planned on doing a few things at their wedding that would be entirely new experiences for us.  By the time their wedding day came around, we were bouncing in our seats.  Jimmy and Esther were hosting their wedding at iconic VanDusen Gardens, in Vancouver, a first for us, they were doing a first look which we love to do, and they’d be playing door games before the wedding.  All of these elements were going to make for a beautiful, sentimental, and fun-filled day.  Needless to say, easy going Esther and Jimmy kept us on our toes!

If you’re not familiar with Chinese wedding traditions, door games are something you should definitely know about!  The morning of the wedding Jimmy sent his handsome groomsmen to retrieve his stunning bride, Esther.  However, Esther’s bridesmaids weren’t about to give her up so easily.  Presented with obstacles, Jimmy and his groomsmen had to complete a series of challenges, to the gleeful delight of the bridesmaids (and to us capturing it).  These challenges included everything from rapping on the spot, to tasting a variety of questionable ‘candies’.  The games finish with groomsmen bribing the bridesmaids for the bride, a few aching stomachs (for the groomsmen – from the food, for the bridesmaids – from the hilarity), and of course, with one very green mouthed groomsmen.  Victorious, Jimmy headed outside to see Esther, in her wedding attire!

After a beautiful and intimate first look, it was off to Shaughnessy Restaurant at VanDusen Gardens to meet up with family and friends for the wedding and photos. With quests traveling all over the globe for the day, table-to-table cheers and toasts, and occasional roaring chants of “Fiddy! Fiddy!”, Esther and Jimmy’s wedding reception proved to be beautiful, heartfelt, and so entertaining!  Hope you enjoy the photos.

Merridale Cidery Wedding - Heather and Kyle

Heather and Kyle's Wedding At Merridale CiderWorks on Vancouver Island // Victoria Wedding Photographers

We got the opportunity to shoot at lovely Merridale Ciderworks again this season, and we were just as excited the second time around!  Heather and Kyle came from Calgary to host a colourful, intimate, and personalized wedding on Vancouver Island in Cobble Hill.

Having only Skyped with this pair of nurses prior to the wedding day, we were beyond eager to meet them face-to-face by the time the wedding had arrived – an we were immediately taken by them!  We started the day off with a private first look in the orchard, just the couple and some apple trees. What a perfect opening to our day with them. It turned out to be one of the most sentimental and genuine first look reactions we could have imagined.  That sentimental and genuine theme carried on throughout the day with their personalized ceremony, and their reception – complete with touching tribute table to Kyle’s brother, a selfie-station area for guests to enjoy, both hilarious and touching speeches, and of course, much dancing, laughing, smiling and kissing.

Congratulations to Heather and Kyle on your beautiful marriage!

A Gastown Engagement Session - Justine and Devon

Justine and Devon's Flirty Romp Around Gastown During their Engagement Session in Downtown Vancouver // BC Wedding Photographers

Time for a switch up!  If you follow our photography, you know we shoot a lot on pebbly beaches, on island cliffs, in the great woods, and in grassy fields. It was about time we showed you what we can do in the glass jungle of Vancouver.  What a more perfect couple than Justine and Devon, who love city vibes, and will be getting married downtown this year.

We met up with Justine and Devon on a gorgeous evening, just outside of Gastown, to start their engagement session.  We wove through the neighbourhood of cobblestone streets and decorated alleys, pausing here and there to capture sweet and quiet moments of Justine and Devon together.  We finished off down by the ocean with a romantic stroll through Crab Park, with views of moonlit mountains, and the city lights twinkling like stars behind them.

Campbell Valley Park Engagement - Halyna and Jason

Halyna and Jason's Sunset Engagement Photos at Campbell Valley Park in Langley // Victoria Wedding Photographers

Some of you may remember back in January when we participated in the “It’s My Wedding” Fair.  That weekend, we gave away a pretty awesome wedding package to one lucky couple!  Halyna and Jason were the lucky bride and groom to be!

We met up with Halyna and Jason on a warm and sunny evening at Campbell Valley Park, a popular location for picnics, strolling, and horseback riding. The sunshine created such a warm glow in the long grassy fields, that it was perfect for a young and playful shoot.  One of our favourite parts of shooting is capturing those moments that happen just as a couple breaks from a “pose”, a millisecond grin, or an eruption of laughter, a little whisper as we set up for another shot.  We caught so many of those cute candid moments with Halyna and Jason that evening. We’re so excited for what we will capture on their wedding day.

Royal Vancouver Yacht Club Wedding - Rachel and Adam

Rachel and Adam's Summer Wedding at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in Kitsilano // Vancouver Island Wedding Photographers

Rachel and Adam's wedding was on a gorgeous sunny day at this gorgeous beach-side venue in Vancouver.  One of those beautiful summer days that the city is known for!  With views out over the ocean and to the north shore mountains, the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, situated on Jericho Beach, was the perfect spot to host their wedding on a day like this.

Their ceremony and reception were decorated by Sheryl Yen who did an amazing job with so many beautiful details, and executed flawlessly by Caitlyn at DreamGroup Productions.  Ceremony music was provided on harp by Morgan at musical occasions, who really brought a distinguished vibe to the event!

We were lucky enough to have access to the docks outside the yacht club, and snuck down for some portraits with the two of them before dinner.  Later in the evening, the Famous Players Band got the party going with their amazing tunes.  These guys can play!

All in all, Rachel and Adam's day was beautiful and a ton of fun!  We hope you all enjoy the photos.

Merridale Ciderworks Wedding - Tarilyn and Joel

Joel and Tarilyn's Summer Orchard Wedding at Merridale Ciderworks on Vancouver Island // Victoria Wedding Photographers

Man, we sure love a wedding on Vancouver Island.  Merridale Ciderworks is one of Vancouver Island's best outdoor wedding venues.  It's private, it's remote feeling, it's beautiful, it's intimate. It has delightful food, and guests, and couples rave about the times they have there.

The day of their wedding took place on Tarilyn’s grandma’s 67nd wedding anniversary, and was very sentimental. It was easy to see how celebrated Joel and Tarilyn’s relationship is, and how happy their wedding guests were.  Family and friends were all participants during the ceremony events, and were a constant mob of hugs, smiles, and tearfully joyous congratulations throughout the afternoon and evening.  Their glasses were raised high following all of the heartfelt speeches, and clinked often for eventful newlywed kissing – which, of course was followed by a chorus of Ooh’ing and Ahh’ing!   Bride and Groom, in similar fashion to their engagement photo session, could not keep their eyes off each other.  Whether they were dancing, jumping in the photobooth, talking to guests, or across the room from each other, Tarilyn and Joel’s eyes were glued to one another the whole day.  After sneaking them away from friends and family to do a few more portraits among the twinkle lights, we left the couple to dance all through the night together.

Thanks so much Tarilyn and Joel, for inviting us to be part of this very very special day.

Joel and Tarilyn had a lot of amazing, local vendors!  If you’re planning a wedding on Vancouver Island, be sure to check out their work:

Whytecliff Maternity Session - Eddie and Andrea

We wanted to try a little something new this week here at Pebble & Pine.  You’ve been following our weddings, you’ve seen our engagement sessions, and you’ve even caught some glimpses of our landscapes.  But today, you’re looking at our very first maternity shoot! Ever.

If you’ve been following our work for a while, you may recognize these adorable parents-to-be.  In 2013 we shot Andrea and Eddie’s winter wedding in Whistler, BC.  When we learned Andrea and Eddie were going to be parents, we lost our minds with excitement!  Why?  Because it meant we were going to be an uncle and auntie – Andrea is actually Matt’s sister.

After shooting a newborn session with a friend last year, Sayde has become more and more intrigued with photographing maternity portraits as well.  She planted the idea in Andrea’s ear, who then graciously agreed to play model for Sayde’s experiment.  Your first maternity shoot ever?  With your pregnant future-sister-in-law?  No pressure, Sayde.  Luckily Eddie and Andrea are the type of couple who are up for anything, and so easy to shoot, which eases the nerves.  Eddie has a habit of making hilarious faces which make Andrea’s warm smile shine.

We took Andrea and Eddie over to Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver to do a few portraits around sunset.  Whytecliff Park has a small, beautiful beach, with a tiny island you can walk to when the tide is low. It’s really quite tranquil, and really very cute.  Only, we didn’t take Andrea and Eddie to that ‘cute’ area of the park.  We took them to the area that puts the ‘cliff’ in Whytecliff.  Yes, we asked 8-month-pregnant Andrea if she would walk out on to a cliff, all for the sake of photographs – but not before we had her climb through the rugged trails and bushes to get to the cliffscape.  She never hesitated for a second, and with Eddie chivalrously guiding her through the trails, we made our way to the edge of the earth for some photos of the two of them right as the sun set behind the Gulf Islands.

Thanks so much to Andrea and Eddie for being such amazing sports. It was really special for our first maternity shoot to be with people we care so much about!

Thanks for viewing! If you’d like to see more of our work, please feel free to check out our Facebook page!

Heritage Park Engagement Session - Kara and Kirby

Kara and Kirby's Romantic Engagement Photography at Heritage Park in Mission // Victoria Wedding Photographers

After meeting Kara at the Abbottsford “It’s My Wedding” show in January, we were excited to meet up with her and Kirby to do their engagement photos, and get to know them as a couple.  After learning their story, they seemed to us like a hallmark couple, and after watching them together, it was clear that they really are. Cute girl from the east coast, falls in love with a handsome boy on from the west coast? Swoon!

Having been together for 8 years, Kara and Kirby wanted their photos to really show their connection with each other; fun, natural, and intimate.  With an amazing view of Mount Baker, and lots of trails to explore, Mission Heritage Park was a perfect spot to photograph this beautiful couple together.

With warm sunny weather, and the park pretty much to ourselves, we had an amazing time with the two of them.  We wandered the trails, beat the mosquitos from each other, had Kara and Kirby dance and snuggle on top of a hill, and even had time to climb some trees.  We can’t wait to come back to Mission next summer to capture all the loveliness of their wedding.

Iona Beach Richmond Engagement Session - Ramiza and Aaron

Ramiza and Aaron's Sunset Engagement Photos at Iona Beach in Richmond BC // BC Wedding Photographers

We had the opportunity to connect with many great brides in January when we participated in the “It’s My Wedding Fair” in Abbotsford, and Ramiza was one of them! We were so excited when, a couple months later, we reconnected with Ramiza, and met her fiancé Aaron to discuss their wedding plans!

Ramiza and Aaron met in University, and hit it off right away. After about 2 years of dating, they began to look at engagement rings.  After seeing, and pointing out a bunch that she liked, Ramiza told Aaron that she would really love something that was unique and would remind her of him.  Aaron met up with a jewelry designer to create a custom ring for Ramiza – a green sapphire stone, the colour of his eyes, with an elegantly detailed band. It’s so stunning!

On New Years Eve day, Aaron and Ramiza went up to Squamish to go eagle watching together.  For those who don’t know, Squamish and Brackendale are amazing places to watch eagle activity during the winter months.  Ramiza describes Aaron acting quite nervous and luring her away to a more private space away from people. He bent down on one knee and called her by her full name, which he apparently does not do, and asked her if she would spend the rest of their lives together. In her excitement, Ramiza said yes, before Aaron even had a chance to show her the ring!

Vancouver's Olympic Village Engagement Session - Lindsay and Darren

Lindsay and Darren's Fun and Flirty Picnic Engagement Photos at False Creek in Vancouver // Vancouver Island Wedding

We were smitten by Lindsay and Darren instantly. He’s a teacher, she’s a librarian, and they each have undeniable enthusiasm for each other.  Since Vancouver’s ever-growing Olympic Village is where they call home, and they love to go out for dinners and drinks with friends, we thought it would be the perfect place to do a very personal engagement session.

During their photos, it was clear that Lindsay and Darren radiate energy from the inside out!  Lindsay was a constant source of smiles and stories, and Darren seemed to know all the right things to say, and the perfect faces to make (he has mastered the brooding Pasodoble face) to encourage a fit of laughter.

Not only were Darren and Lindsay outgoing and energetic on their photoshoot, but they let us in on the sweet and romantic side of their relationship.  In August 2014 the two of them booked their wedding date at Church and State Winery, in Victoria, for August 2015.  At the time, they weren’t engaged yet. Darren really wanted to ask Lindsay’s parents for their daughter’s hand in person. The two of them kept their wedding plan a secret from friends and family the whole time, until that Christmas, when Darren’s opportunity arose. After getting permission from Lindsay’s parents, Darren proposed to Lindsay at the end of January.  Lindsay told us how she came home late from work one evening to wine, cheese and dinner prepared by Darren. For dessert, a macaron garnished with an engagement ring from Brilliant Earth!

Sound House Wedding - Julia and Travis

Julia and Travis' Outdoor Vancouver Wedding and Reception at Sound House Studios //  Victoria Wedding Photographers

Bit by bit, Julia and Travis revealed to us fun and unique details about how they had planned out their wedding day, and the events that would unfold. We grew more and more excited with each element, and were as excited as them about their big day.

The day started off with an intimate ceremony with family on the pier at John Lawson Park in West Vancouver.  It couldn’t have been more beautiful: mountainous clouds overhead that looked like they had been painted there as a backdrop, Stanley Park in the distance, bursting with fresh spring leaves, and waves gently washing over the kelp and barnacle-covered rocks around the pier. The beautiful bride, groom, and their entourage parading through the park up to the ceremony site, turning the heads of park patrons left, right, and centre. And of course, the seagull who seemed so convinced he was invited to their event.

Thanks so much to Julia and Travis for inviting us to share, and capture your special day!

Steveston Engagement Session - Tarilyn and Joel

Tarilyn and Joel's Sunset Engagement Photos in Steveston, Richmond // Vancouver Wedding Photographers

Stepping into Steveston is like stepping on to the set of a classic movie.  It’s a nostalgic retreat for those looking for a local getaway from the hustle and bustle of greater Vancouver, and has a friendly neighbourhood atmosphere for the people who call this fishing village home.  With boardwalks galore, fishing vessels in the harbour, waterfront cafes, and views of the mountainous islands to the west, Steveston’s sunsets rival those of any expensive travel destination.  It’s no surprise that Joel picked this very place to propose to Tarilyn.

For their engagement photos, we were excited to return to the town that now has so much history and richness to the story of their lives together.  Spending the evening photographing Tarilyn and Joel felt very special. Even when we weren’t clicking the cameras, the two of them continued to kiss, and cuddle, and hold hands, and chat as if no one else was around. It felt like following a couple around during an intimate date. Seeing the loving dynamic these two have, makes us very eager to shoot their wedding next month!  Congratulations, Tarilyn and Joel!

Deer Lake Engagement Session - Tamara and Mike

Tamara and Mike's Sunny Spring Engagement Photos in Deer Lake Park, Burnaby // Victoria Wedding Photographers

Tamara & Mike’s engagement shoot was almost postponed due to it being pouring rain in the morning!  They were coming over from Victoria for the shoot and it wasn’t looking great but they decided to come to Vancouver anyhow since they had some errands to run here.  And boy are we glad they still came, because the weather ended up turning out fantastic in the evening, and we had a ridiculously fun time traipsing around Deer Lake with them especially when we came to a field filled with dandelions!  We braved some slugs, frogs, mushy grass, and Sayde ripped her clothes getting that beautiful shot of Tamara’s ring, but it was all worth it!  Check it out below…

Engagement Session in Terra Nova Park - Jimmy and Esther

Jimmy and Esther's Sunset Engagement Photos at Terra Nova Park in Richmond, Vancouver // Vancouver Island Wedding Photographers

We were really excited to meet up with Esther and Jimmy to do their engagement photos last week.  When we met with them last year, we had planned to do their photos in late spring, when the cherry and apple blossoms were in full bloom! Well, if you live in the pacific northwest, you know that the unusual winter warmth we had meant the cherry blossoms all bloomed in February.  So, we diverted our plans to a vibrant sunset engagement shoot instead.

Esther and Jimmy told us about this amazing place in Richmond, with a farm, trails, playground, and a dyke trail that follows the shoreline and overlooks some very scenic wetlands. We had loads of fun strolling around with the two of them and enjoying the scenery. They told us originally they felt a little weird about having their photos taken (as many couples tell us in the early stages), but they were such troopers right out of the gates: climbing into the reeds, the weeds and giving each other a few fancy twirls! We even found the last blooming apple tree on the entire west coast.

Thanks so much Esther and Jimmy, we are so excited for your wedding!
